The Emirates Stadium, Sir Robert McAlpine
In 2004 Sir Robert McAlpine signed a design and build contract of £400m projects, including £220m to build a 60,000 all-seater stadium for Arsenal FC. The major challenge was to complete the project for the beginning of the 2006/07 Premier League season; a demanding timetable, especially in view of other high profile London-based stadium projects running into considerable difficulties.
With timescales tight, the complexity of the project required all parties in the development to collaborate closely. Over 120 different organisations were involved, with over 450 individuals using the 4Projects integrated collaboration solution. The site covered an area of 17 acres, and the programme consisted of four separate projects, namely infrastructure, the North Bridge building, the Northern Triangle, and the Emirates Stadium itself.
