Who’d Want to Work in Software?
04, September, 2010

Here at 4Projects, we like to make a name for ourselves, hopefully always for the right reasons!! So when our very own Martin Robertson stepped into the limelight as a star of YouTube we were delighted.

Our Energy Sales Manager, Martin, is featured in a new video, released by Sunderland Software City that aims to promote jobs in the industry to secondary school kids.

The 2D animation features a couple of siblings who are convinced that people who work in software are ‘well dull little kids who work in basements’ – their words, not ours! But they’re proven wrong by a Flight of the Navigator-style talking spaceship who takes them on a magical journey in the year 3010!

The kids are shown that software is everywhere, even in entertainment and football which is all they seem to be interested in at first. Martin told the kids about the exciting sports events and stadiums that 4Projects’ software had been used for, completely changing the way they think.

The video, aptly named ‘Who’d Want to Work in Software?’ shows how exciting a career in software can be, even taking you all over the world! We are of course very proud of Martin for being such a big internet star, but he wasn’t alone in the limelight.

Former 4Projects work experience girl, Holly Nelson, provided the voice of the female character in the cartoon. And that’s not her only connection to the company; Holly’s uncle is Chief Financial Officer Steve Nelson. Perhaps one day she’ll follow Uncle Steve’s footsteps right to the top.
