News International

News International, the UK subsidary of News Corporation, completed construction of new printing plants across 3 locations in the UK in January 2008. Leading construction company, Carillion were awarded the £230 million contract, to construct 19 press plants across England and Scotland.

Carillion selected 4Projects as its preferred supplier of collaboration solutions in 2004. The selection process entailed a detailed tender process involving an online bidding process with several other providers of collaboration solutions.

From project commencement to January 2008, 89 organisations used the solution, including Carillions internal team, Civil Engineers Scott Wilson and Architect RPS Burks Green. During the Course of the project there was a combined total of 46,338 documents and drawings uploaded. On a major project that covers 3 different sites, project management is crucial. The ability to access information instantly proved to be a major benefit to Carillion.
